Terms of Service
The terms that govern use of the Markpdf API: billing, refunds, plan changes, eligibility restrictions and account termination. Last updated: July 2026.
Billing and payments
- Two plan types are offered: prepaid (buy credits upfront, consumed per request) and pay-as-you-go (billed periodically for usage).
- All payment processing is handled by our payment processor, Dodo Payments. Any legal claim, chargeback dispute or billing complaint regarding a charge must be directed to Dodo Payments as the payment facilitator of record, in addition to contacting us at hello@markpdf.tech.
- Pay-as-you-go accounts with an unpaid invoice are automatically suspended until the balance is settled. A suspended account cannot create new API keys or make conversion requests until the debt is cleared.
Refunds
- Credits or balance already consumed by successful API requests are non-refundable. Once a document has been processed, the underlying compute cost has been incurred and cannot be reversed.
- Unused prepaid balance is handled on a case-by-case basis at our discretion — contact hello@markpdf.tech.
Switching between plans
- A pay-as-you-go account with an outstanding unpaid balance cannot switch to the prepaid plan. Outstanding invoices must be settled first.
- Switching from prepaid to pay-as-you-go does not carry over unused prepaid credit as debt — the two balances are independent.
API keys
- Free and prepaid accounts are limited to a single active API key by default. Higher limits may be granted on request or on qualifying plans.
- You are solely responsible for keeping your API key confidential. We are not responsible for unauthorized use, unexpected charges, or usage overages resulting from a leaked, shared, or stolen API key.
- If your key is compromised, revoke it immediately from the dashboard and generate a new one. Charges incurred before revocation are your responsibility.
Eligibility and restricted use
- There is no minimum age requirement to use Markpdf; however, if local law requires parental or guardian consent for entering into this kind of agreement, you must have that consent before using the service.
- The API may not be used by, or on behalf of, governments or government-affiliated entities based outside the European Union, or by any individual or organization located in, controlled by, or acting on behalf of a country or territory subject to European Union sanctions.
- The API may not be used by any individual or organization designated by the European Union, the United Nations, or any other applicable authority as a sanctioned, prohibited, or terrorist organization.
- Uploading content you don't have the legal right to process, or using the service for any unlawful purpose, is prohibited.
Account suspension and termination
- We may suspend or terminate any account that engages in fraud, abuse of the free tier, circumvention of rate or usage limits, chargeback abuse, or any other irregularity that undermines the service or other users.
- Accounts suspended for non-payment are reactivated automatically once the outstanding balance is settled.
- We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, at any time, for violation of these terms.
Limitation of liability
- The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of the API, including but not limited to lost revenue, lost data, or unexpected usage charges.
- Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.
