Privacy Policy

How Markpdf handles your data, the cookies we set, and how to reach us for support or complaints. Last updated: July 2026.

What data we collect

Account data: when you sign up, we collect the email address and any profile fields (name) you provide. Authentication is handled by Appwrite.
Documents you convert: files you upload for conversion are processed to produce Markdown output and are not stored or cached after the request completes. We don't use your documents to train any model, and no external LLM sees their contents.
Billing data: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by our payment processor (Dodo Payments). We don't store your card details — they never touch our servers.
API usage: we log request metadata (timestamps, response status, file size, conversion mode) to operate the service, prevent abuse and calculate usage against your plan limits.

Auth session cookie (a_session) — required to keep you signed in. Set by Appwrite, essential, cannot be disabled while logged in.
markpdf_locale — remembers your selected language. Expires after 1 year.
sidebar_state — remembers whether the dashboard sidebar is open or collapsed. Expires after 7 days.
markpdf_new_key — holds a newly created API key so it can be shown to you once right after creation. Expires after 60 seconds.
We don't use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. No Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no ad networks.

Appwrite — authentication and account storage.
Dodo Payments — payment processing for paid plans.
Cloudflare — hosting and edge infrastructure that serves the app and routes conversion requests.
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone beyond what's needed to run the service above.

Uploaded documents are processed in memory and discarded once the conversion response is returned — we don't keep a copy.
Account data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile and API keys are removed.
Request logs used for abuse prevention and usage metering are retained for a limited period, then discarded.

You can request a copy of the account data we hold on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account entirely.
